Shahzadi and her grand children are survivors of the cataclysmic disastrous earthquake that shook up the ground of AJK and demolished human habitat.

Since then Shahzadi lived with her grandchildren in a makeshift house and managed to scrape through two dreadful winters.

The old lady of 85 years, did not have the health nor the resources to provide her little grandchildren the basic necessity of a human life a shelter to live in, specially with the extreme climatic conditions.

Her biggest fear was to survive another looming Himalayan winter.

Tired & exhausted with the promises of help made by different sources, Shahzadi gave up the hope to receive any support from anybody.

When UPFBH AJK team, met Shahzadi and her grand children, a distressed and disturbed old lady, thought it was just promising the impossible.

However, to Shahzadi's surprise she was further contacted by UPFBH team, and told the very next day, that she was receiving the keys to her house.

The peace that Shahzadi and her little children have derived from UPFBH has brought great sense of contentment and happiness within the team of UPFBH.

Our team met many deserving families who have narrated tales being in similar or worst situations and UPFBH takes a Pledge to provide the needed Homes to the Homeless.

Construction of houses are on full fledged.

UPFBH is providing permanent houses only to the vulnerable group (comprising of widows and orphans and the handicapped with no regular source of income) in Azad Kashmir.

According to UN estimates, more than 250,000 houses need to be built within the next couple of years to replace those structures either completely destroyed or unfit for habitation, a massive undertaking for any government or any single International NGO for that matter. However, with the combined effort of generous donors such as yourself and many others, while we provide the technical & logistic support by mobilizing our engineering and construction crew, we can reach our objective within the stipulated period.

Of all the worthy causes providing decent permanent shelters is inevitably the responsibility of those more fortunate…
